It all started when...

I was living in Ilfracombe, a quaint little fishing town in the south west of England, where I grew up. I knew I wanted to be a carpenter since I was a child and growing up my family was having some extensions built on our home. seeing the carpenters build the roof, floors and walls and then trimming it out with doors and windows skirting boards and moldings looked like a good way to make a living. At the age of 14 I was given the opportunity to go to college one day a week and study the building trades.

Getting to experience the building trades such as plumbing & electrical, bricklaying, painting & decorating, carpentry & joinery was a great learning curve but I was only interested in carpentry & joinery. After graduating school at the age of 16 I began my three year carpentry & joinery apprenticeship building houses, everything from laying the foundations to trimming out the last window cill.

I graduated my apprenticeship with a level 3 diploma and a City and Guilds of London Institute. Shortly after, I began my own company JGE Carpentry & Joinery. It consisted mainly of refurbishing old Georgian & Victorian houses in my town which is where my love for the Georgian period style came from. Being able to restore these old craftsmanships' work was an eye opener into how intricately and meticulously they created their work. Studying the furniture and the history of how they used and lived in their homes was fascinating.

After moving to California in 2013, I shifted my focus and began designing and building more furniture complimenting my designs with some Georgian elegance, while infusing a simple and organic contemporary edge, I began to form a style I could be proud of and that would sit well in any room. I am now very proud to introduce to you our first collection.
